Walking - Brecksville Station

I love to walk on the tow path trails along the Ohio and Erie Canal. One of my favorite tow path stations is Brecksville Station off of River Road in Brecksville, Ohio. There's a large parking lot. Brecksville Station itself used to be a rail stop, but is now basically a restroom and information center. There are three main trails to choose from here - which is one of the big reasons I like to come here. To get to the tow path trails, you must first cross the historical Station Road Bridge over the Cuyahoga River. After about 100 yards, the tow path branches off to the left and the right. Each choice has its own personality with river, canal, and wooded views. The third trail is not a tow path trail, but rather a Metroparks trail. It's a beautifully manicured and mostly tree shaded trail that has a kind of a resort feel to it. Off this trail are several horse and hiking trails that go off into the woods. If you like walking, or jogging, or biking, this is a really cool place to do any of them.

Sounds lovely, I've always loved being near the water. But is that area safe for jogging? Have you been mugged lately?

Oh no... It's a very safe area in a great neighborhood. What's cool about these towpath trails is the transition back and forth between civilization and "the wild" (kinda sorta - no danger of being eaten by wild animals)...
Sounds like a great place to vacation and enjoy the great outdoors. Keep up the informative intels as this is must be a wonderland for families with active children.
