The Sound of Music

By James Emery Vigh of profbruno.com

Finally, after (I'd rather not say) years on this planet, I saw "The Sound of Music" on TV from start to finish. I had seen the stage version, and thought it was great, but the sweeping grandeur of the film's cinematography plus the voice of Julie Andrews swept me off of my feet. Christopher Plummer was great. The kids were great. The nuns were great. The songs were great (The Sound of Music, Do Re Me, My Favorite Things, Climb Every Mountain, etc..) I am going to add this film to my DVD collection at the earliest opportunity.

I saw the original movie many years ago, back when good music and a good story were the movies to watch. We didn't need to blow up the world to be entertained.
Nice intel.

Thanks. I also love My Fair Lady. It lost some of its luster for me though when I heard that Audrey Hepburn (who is visually "loverly") didn't sing any of the songs except one (Just You Wait). Interestingly enough, Julie Andrews did this on Broadway. I wonder why she didn't do the movie?

I have yet to be still from start to finish; however, I too love this movie. Julie's voice is like a musical instrument. I can be still for the singing parts of the movie.
