Driving in a Rainstorm - Turn On Your Lights
By James Emery Vigh of profbruno.com
Somebody please tell me why a substantial number of people seem to insist that they do not need to turn on their car headlights while driving on a freeway during a rainstorm. People need to absolutely understand that they practically cannot be seen on the freeway with the visibility already close to zero if they do not have their lights on. To top it off, many of these same people weave in and out of traffic going much faster than they should be in conditions of terrible visibility. Combine this with the fact that they don't have their lights on makes it dangerous for all the other drivers on the highway who are unfortunate enough to encounter them. Please. If you're driving in the rain, turn your lights on and don't drive like a moron.

All we need is to have the national safety commision insist that when the windshield wipers are turned on, the head lights come on automaticly. The car manufacturers could make this happen in a heartbeat. Good intel. The moron part is a little tougher. Frederick

I wrote this piece about an hour after this kind of thing happened to me. I know that you want to write in a positive state of mind, but this was an emotional article as you could probably tell...
I totally agree with this! I drive with my headlights on all the time. Too many times during GOOD WEATHER visablity in the early morning or early evening is not good and vehicles do not have their lights on. Very unsafe for them and others.

Thanks for your comment. We all have our days, but driving safely should be an attitude -- or so one would think...
